Go Back in Time to Do Battle

Cossacks: European Wars gives gamers the chance to go back in time to 16th century Europe to built and face off against different civilisations. A large number of different nations are represented in the game including England, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Russia. Does the game make history come to life, or does it fall a little flat? Read on to find out.

One of the cool things about the game is that each nation is given its own attributes that perfectly match the real life historical attributes that the nation would have possessed. Battles are made of up to eight thousand units and there is a lot going on on the battlefield. In addition, the nations also have their own graphics, which helps make them easier to keep track of.

The game maps are very detailed and the graphics help to add an extra dimension to make the game come to life. there are lots of different battles to get engaged in from guerrilla wars to city sieges and players have a certain amount of control over which battles they choose and how things will play out. It is worth noting that the computer AIs are rather intelligent and gamers who are playing the single mode may sometimes find that their work is cut out for them.

The diverse landscape is another element that makes the battles rich and varied. Battles can take place at sea, on the shore, in forests or just about anywhere else that is possible and provides a tactical advantage.

Cossacks: European Wars is not really a game for novice gamers. Some of the campaigns in the game tend to be extremely difficult and end up being a war of attrition is some cases where nations are well matched against each other. Players really have to be willing to go the distance in order to win and some players may find that this is more of a commitment than they are willing to make.

People who have an interest in history are sure to enjoy the accurate representation of various elements in the game such as clothing and house styles. The smooth graphics really help to being the game to life, while the battles really pack a punch and make the game well rounded and engaging.
